Why seal asphalt?
The minute new asphalt is laid, it is guaranteed to do three things: cure, oxidize and deteriorate.
Sealcoating:
1. Prevents oxidation
2. Fills in hairline cracks
3. Resists oil & gas
4. Reduces sweeping costs
5. Increases aesthetic value and improves first impressions
6. Increases pavement life
Protecting your pavement investment with sealcoating has basically the same effect as using sun block on your skin. It prevents the sun’s UV rays from baking the oil out of the asphalt and turning a once flexible pavement brittle. Sealcoating also minimizes raveling (the loss of aggregate) and fills minor voids in the surface. Other benefits include creating a uniform color and appearance for all paved asphalt surfaces and increasing the visibility of curbing.
Sealcoating and re-striping of parking spaces and crosswalks improves traffic flow and enhances public safety and decreases liability.
Hutch Paving now offers a quick curing additive option for its sealcoat. This additive will speed up drying time to within as little as 4 hours. Our speed dry additive will yield faster drying times, rich, deeper black color, and prolonged sealcoat life because the sealcoat cures quicker before vehicle traffic resumes. This additive must be applied under desirable temperatures and sun to achieve these results. Ask a Hutch Paving representative if this additive option is right for your project.
